CARS, CRAFTS, CRAWFISH, AND CROONERS, OH MY: 5 DRAWS OF THE ORANGE BEACH SEAFOOD FEST
February 26, 2020
Looking for something different to do this upcoming weekend? Search no further!
The 28th Annual Orange Beach Seafood Festival will take place at The Wharf this Saturday from 10 am to 4 pm, and we eagerly invite you to come join us. Admission is FREE!
There's never a shortage of activities to do and yummy eats to consume along the way. It's an entire day of good, clean fun for every age and every pallet. If you've never attended and need a handful of attractive reasons to make the short trek over, we've highlighted a few in particular that are sure to cement your decision!
If the tasty fare list alone isn't music to your ears, well, we have actual music for your ears. The live entertainment lineup at the fest is stacked on two different stages! And bring the whole family, because the Kids Zone for the young’uns to enjoy is complete with a mega slide, bull riding, face painting and a visit from our friends at the Alabama Gulf Coast Zoo, Orange Beach Wildlife Center and Alligator Alley. The “Paws on Parade” show will take place again for the second year, so bring your furry friend in their best costume. Don’t have a pet? No worries. A pet adoption will be going on at the same time. Just remember that it's okay to dance and dine simultaneously, especially in the festival streets!
With a mega roster of over 130 specialty vendors on board this year, there will be plenty to see, feel, touch, and, hopefully, buy! Whether you need to pick up an early birthday gift for a friend, a "just because" for your sweetie, or something wholly unique for yourself, you'll have lots to choose from. These arts and craft booths will be displaying everything from hand-made jewelry, clothing, ceramics, wooden signs, candles, crocheted items and artwork galore. You can shake hands with painters, photographers, and mixed media artists, all in one location!
Speaking of works of art, it will be impossible to miss the picturesque bunch of antique, classic, and hot rods parked on Main Street. Powder blues and apple reds, these cars will blind you with unapologetic mechanical beauty (and horsepower). The gamut of collectable vehicles displayed will be as wildly diverse as it is breathtaking. It doesn't matter if you aren't necessarily a car buff. Sometimes a little eye candy is just good for the soul!
Folks, the name alone spells it out for ya: SEAFOOD! Imagine Main Street lined with mouth-watering coastal bites to get your taste buds humming. Grab and peel some crawfish — 1,000 pounds will be cooked to perfection and available for sell in the car show area behind the AMC Theatres. Taste various po'boys, bisque, gumbo, crab cakes, fish tacos, shrimp, catfish, or oysters from one of the 12 food vendors. Prefer turf to surf options? Don't sweat it! Chicken, sausage, kettle corn, frozen cheesecake, fruit bowls and smoothies and heaps of lip-smacking sides like gooey mac and cheese will be available to delve into. You won't find fresher cuts or catches than here along the Gulf. Our onsite restaurants will be open and serving up their famous delights as well. Words of advice — come hungry!
This annual festival is the Orange Beach Sports Association's largest fundraiser of the year. The proceeds raised support youth sports-related activities in Orange Beach, such as baseball, softball, and tee-ball. The funds help with the purchase of equipment and uniforms, as well as provide the pay for instructional clinics. It's always nice to attend an event for the enjoyment and atmosphere, but it's even better to participate when that affair is serving a greater purpose!
