Countdown to Memorial Day: 3 Days of Flag-Flying Fun
May 23, 2018
If you skimmed our Memorial Field Guide from 2017, then you’re quite aware of how jam-packed we like to keep our celebration days here at The Wharf!
Guess what? Not much has changed! (Except for the fact that we are doing it even BIGGER this year!)
With the school year almost wrapped and summer peeking around the bend, we invite you to usher in the holiday weekend with us a little early.
Here’s a look at what’s in store over the next few days. Don’t overthink it, just come on down! We’ve done all the necessary legwork so you can simply show up and play.
Thursday, May 24th
Dwight Yoakam at the Event Center
A legend behind both guitar and movie camera, Yoakam is a force to be reckoned with talent-wise.
Want to experience some of that brilliance? He will be performing with musician Drew Parker at the Orange Beach Event Center located between SpringHill Suites and Burris Farm Market tomorrow evening.
Get your tickets while they last!
Friday, May 25th
5th Annual Pepsi Beach Ball Drop
We’ve had four years to hone our beach ball droppin’ skills and not to brag, but we are pretty much experts now.
Prepare for 5,000+ Pepsi-branded red, blue, and white beach balls to descend upon the crowd in the finest fashion. Make sure to check out your catch because some of them will be redeemable for a variety of Pepsi and Wharf goodies.
Before the main event, stop by early to jump, dance, surf, slide, and even get your face painted. Heck, take a spin on the Ferris Wheel if you are feelin’ froggy!
Following the actual drop, Red Bow Records recording artist Craig Campbell will be here to perform on stage at 6:30pm, presented by 95KSJ.
Sunday, May 27th
Dave Matthews Band at The Wharf Amphitheater
C’mon! Having DMB play our Amphitheater on Memorial Day Eve, to quote Dave himself, is most certainly the best of what’s around.
The diversely gifted ensemble has been jamming together for over two decades, starting in local dive bars and college campuses to selling out iconic venues like Madison Square Garden and Central Park. No big deal, right?
Two-step your way to the Box Office ASAP because ticket availability is dwindling quickly. This is going to be one heck of high-fivin’, happy-feet-movin’, hootenanny of a good time.
(Don’t forget to join us on Memorial Day, Monday, May 28th, for the return of Sparks After Dark fireworks show! The display will begin at 8:45pm.)
