Holiday Season Cocktails & Mocktails

December 19, 2019

The holiday season is just a little bit jollier with beverages, isn’t it?

We thought we’d spread some holiday cheer with some of the best mocktails and cocktails for you to enjoy with your family and friends this Christmas! Whatever the occasion or gathering, these drink recipes are some of our favorites here at The Wharf. And wouldn’t you know it, you can find lots of these recipe ingredients at some of our small businesses!

Let’s start with Bloody Mary’s, the perfect way to start the morning. Pepper Palace has everything you need to make the perfect Bloody Mary (except the vodka).

They’ve created one of the greatest Bloody Mary mixes to ever cross our lips. Tomato juice, lime juice, their famous Bloody Mary Seasoning, and a slew of other spices combined with the notorious Nasal Napalm come together to make, well, the Most Excellent Bloody Mary Mix Ever!

Just pour 2 ounces of vodka over ice in a 16 ounce glass, then fill with Most Excellent Bloody Mary Mix Ever and add your favorite garnish—celery stalk, dill pickle, Pepper Palace Garlic or Bleu Cheese Stuffed Olives, Dilled Green Beans, maybe even a strip of crisp bacon.

If you’re preparing for a crowd, we would recommend a Christmas Punch! It’s very simple and easy to make, and it all starts with sparkling champagne or wine from Red or White Wine & Gourmet.

From there, add cranberry juice, apple cider, ginger ale, and dark rum or brandy, then finish with orange slices and cranberries. And if you need a champagne recommendation, we love the Henriot Brut Souverain Champagne!

Together, the combination of the light and bright with the deep and spicy makes this Christmas Punch so yummy and easy to sip. Because it takes minutes to make, you can quickly (perhaps too quickly) continue refilling the bowl as the night goes on! And if you want to be alcohol-free, substitute the wine or champagne for sparkling cider and leave out the brandy or rum.

And don’t forget to chill all the ingredients to make sure your punch is nice and cold. Then fill a large punch bowl with ice and top with all the ingredients, setting the orange slices and cranberries aside for the last step. Stir to combine, then top with the oranges and cranberries to beautify it, and voila!

Our final drink recommendation is called Sugar Cookie White Russians, and it’s as delicious as it sounds. Plus, you can stop by The Sugar Shack & Café to get started!

For this recipe, you’ll need 1½ ounces of vodka, 1½ ounces of coffee liqueur, 4 ounces of milk, ½ a teaspoon of pure vanilla extract, 1 sugar cookie, ice, ? cup of whipped cream, and red and green sprinkles. It all starts with the cookies, so grab a bundle from the Sugar Shack and get mixing.

First, remove the frosting from one sugar cookie and crush into small crumbles onto a small plate. Then prepare a tall cocktail glass by spreading a bit of whipped cream around the rim and rolling it gently in the cookie crumbs. Fill glass to the brim with ice and add the vodka, coffee liqueur, vanilla extract, and milk to a cocktail shaker. Shake vigorously until frothy, then pour into your cocktail glass over ice. Top with the remaining whipped cream, then sprinkle with additional cookie crumbs and seasonal sprinkles. Add a straw, sip and enjoy!

And if you’d prefer your Sugar Cookie White Russians without alcohol, we’ve got a tasty solution for you. Mix up a mocktail version by switching the vodka and liqueur for hot chocolate from Kilwins. With all that sugary goodness, you’ll be in holiday heaven.

We hope you enjoy these drink options this holiday season with your friends and family. Have a magical New Year, everyone!
