Keep the Feeling Alive: 6 Dreamy Date Ideas at The Wharf
February 14, 2018
It's always the season for love at The Wharf. Whether you are in the courting stage, blissful newlyweds, or partners deeply rooted in time, it is necessary to keep things fresh in your union.
In honor of Valentine's Day, we've put together a few date ideas to experience here at The Wharf, any time of year. Don't worry-Leave the creativity to us! You just focus on one another.
1. For the Love of Dog
Leash your fur children and head down for a cozy breakfast gathering at The Southern Grind Coffee House. Enjoy open, front-porch seating and a warm egg scramble or refreshing scoop of gelato. Focus on treating one other while the friendly staff makes sure to provide a special treat for your pup as well! (They aim to please everyone, opposable thumbs or not…)
2. Play Like a Kid Again
For the young-at-heart, adventure-seeking couples out there, The Wharf is your one-stop shop for an array of adrenaline (and belly laughter) inducing day and night activities. If fun is what you both desire, look no further.
Soar over a mile of scenic views on the longest, fastest, and highest zipline course on the Gulf Coast. After your blood is pumping from the Hummingbird Zipline Course, refuel with an old-fashioned burger and fry plate from The Sugar Shack and, heck, why not a cookie or three? It's a special occasion, live it up!
If you're still in the mood for some high-energy entertainment, play a game of laser tag or Bazooka Ball at Arena the Next Level. A little friendly competition is always good for lovebirds!
Wanna test your problem-solving skills together? Have you always loved puzzles? Breakout Orange Beach is the ideal place to share a unique and intensely exciting escape room scenario as a pair. Make sure to wear those detective hats!
3. Budget-Friendly Finds
Looking for a good time without bruising the bank account? Here's a cute idea! Set a spending limit of $5 or under, give each other 30 minutes to seek out the most thoughtful or quirky find within the budget at one of our many shops, and then plan to meet at The Wharf Marina. Take a stroll right at sunset and present each gift to one another. The surprise will be well worth the short stint apart!
4. Classic Cuddlefest
Dinner and a movie. One of greatest combos in dating history! Let's switch it up a bit. Take in a cinematic performance of your preference at AMC Theatres. Afterwards, clasp hands and stroll on over to Dippin' Dots for sweets with your sweet. It's even better when you load up on buttery, salted popcorn before. The contrast works nicely.
Pro-tip: Don't forget that every Tuesday is $5 ticket day at AMC!
5. Sunsets after the Sun Sets
Pull those nautical stripes out of the closet and set sail from the marina with your companion for an epically romantic voyage. Enjoy a day sail upon the Cetacean, a 52-foot Hawaiian Catamaran, or head underway for a sunset dolphin cruise aboard The Sunny Lady. Keep the camera handy, because you'll want to capture all of the sights.
After docking, take those sea legs over to Bayes for a tall glass of their deliciously famous Orange Beach Sunset craft cocktail and toast on the patio overlooking the Intracoastal.
If the hours start drifting away from you both, why not turn the date into an over-nighter at The Springhill Suites next door? Everyone loves a little staycation. Wake up to a coastal sunrise with your honey to cap off a picture-perfect date.
6. Sunday Funday Brunch
Spend a soothing Sunday with your dearest at Red or White Wine & Gourmet for brunch and mimosas. They have live jazz music to set the mood and views for days! We know you'll fall for the bubbly, so purchase a bottle on your way out. Bottoms up!
