Thanksgiving Turkey Recipe
November 13, 2019
Thanksgiving is getting closer and closer, which means now is the time to start preparing for all the amazing dishes your family loves.
If you’re the chef of the family, then you’re probably responsible for one of the best parts: the turkey! This can also be one of the toughest dishes to get right. You don’t want it to be too dry or too salty—it has to be moist and full of flavor, just the right balance.
If you’re looking for a new recipe this year, The Wharf is here to help. We teamed up with Chef David of Orange Beach Concierge to bring you his perfect turkey brine recipe. All you have to do is whip this up, drop your turkey in for a few days, and enjoy!
This recipe is for a 10-14 pound turkey that will fit into a 5 gallon bucket.
Be sure to have enough room in your refrigerator for storage!
2 gallons water
2 cups salt
1/2 cup brown sugar
1 diced onion
1 head of smashed garlic
2 bunches of thyme
1 bunch of parsley
1 bunch of sage leaves
1 handful of bay leaves
12 black peppercorns
Bring all ingredients to a boil.
Pour ingredients into 5-gallon bucket and cool to room temp. Then store in the refrigerator for 2 hours.
When liquid is cool, drop in turkey to the 5-gallon bucket and store in refrigerator.
Note: Turkeys are best if they are brined for two to four days.
